Manisuru Mubiru

LUZ00191 Manisuru comes from a poor Muslim family from Luzira in Uganda. As the youngest of four siblings, his aging parents had already been struggling to provide for the older children, so they never would have been able to afford to pay for Manisuru’s education. Their great need led them to seek assistance from the unlikely connection of the local church. Fortunately, in 2010, Manisuru had the opportunity to be enrolled in Africa Renewal’s Child Development Program and received a sponsor.

From the time he was able to begin attending school, he has excelled in all his classes. As he became more involved in the program, the CDP staff were able to mentor and disciple him, serving as a tangible representation of God’s love in his life. After experiencing this care and compassion for some time, Manisuru gave his life to Christ during a youth camp and has been a shining example of the transformative power of God’s love ever since. Taking on various leadership roles, he has served his community wherever he could find an opportunity. He has been especially involved in directing school clubs and organizations and even started a chapter of a Christian society at his high school. Now, Manisuru serves in the youth and children's ministries at his church, volunteers regularly with the CDP, and has a vision for raising up Christian leaders with a goal to greatly impact his generation through the ripple effect of discipleship.

Manisuru’s dream is to pursue a law degree and he has already received a placement at Uganda Christian University. He hopes to start a movement among his peers that would give young people a platform to be able to speak out and seek help.
