Raised by a hardworking single mother in a family of six children, Sharon Akello understands both the challenges of poverty and the power of opportunity. There were times when school fees were difficult to afford, and continuing her education seemed uncertain. Through the Child Development Program, Sharon received the support, encouragement, and mentorship she needed to stay in school, grow in her faith, and develop leadership skills through youth ministry and Scripture Union activities.

Today, Sharon dreams of earning a degree in Accounting and becoming a professional who promotes financial integrity, accountability, and responsible stewardship of resources. She hopes to use her education to support her family, strengthen organizations, and contribute to the development of her community. However, after completing high school, she no longer has the support system needed to continue her studies.
