GBAR03689 Salma lives in Gaba with her grandmother while her parents work hard to support their large family. Her mother works in a restaurant and her father does odd jobs as a day laborer. Salma started out in our Early Childhood Development Program which provides discipleship, meals, and a safe place to play for children from the slums while their parents look for work during the day. Since she was in this program, she was able to start school on time which is a huge blessing and rare for children in such extreme poverty. Being in our sponsorship program has given Salma a sense of stability and the opportunity to be mentored and cared for by our staff. She loves learning, singing, and dancing. Salma is a good student in Primary 2 in school and her favorite subject is science. She needs a new sponsor to remain in the program and continue her education.
