Transformational Leadership Training

Africa Renewal believes that transformed people transform society.
Fulfilling the mission “to renew Africa through the gospel of Jesus Christ and the local church by embracing children, equipping leaders, and empowering communities” requires investing in the next generation of Christian leaders. The Transformational Leadership Training (TLT) program connects all three of these ministry pillars.

Students once embraced as children are now equipped as leaders. As God’s calling and purpose come into focus, they are empowered to transform their communities.

As high school graduates complete the Child Development Program, select student leaders become eligible for a three-month intensive training held in the gap between secondary school and university. The Transformational Leadership Training (TLT) program prepares students to transition from child sponsorship into the next stage of life.

Whether pursuing higher education, employment, or other paths, TLT helps each student discover their God-given gifts and live with purpose as transformed leaders.

What is TLT?

Bootcamp Phase

The first phase of Transformational Leadership Training (TLT) challenges students mentally, physically, and spiritually. Through lessons in resilience, teamwork, critical thinking, and resourcefulness, students experience deep personal growth. Held in the “bush,” this boot camp teaches reliance on one another and on the Lord for strength. As students are stretched and their weaknesses exposed, God brings healing and transformation.

Spiritual Discipline & Leadership Development Phases

The second phase focuses on spiritual formation. Even students familiar with discipleship often discover that their faith has been superficial, leading many to recommit or give their lives to Christ. Students practice prayer and fasting, study Scripture, explore spiritual gifts, and discern God’s calling.

From there, they move into practical ministry—serving others, sharing the Gospel, and completing community projects. These experiences build interpersonal skills, foster servant leadership, and help students identify their strengths while learning income-generating skills.

Final Integration Phase

The final phase unites everything learned. Students hear from speakers on discipleship, leadership, relationships, career development, and financial stewardship. The program culminates in a graduation ceremony where participants share testimonies and are commissioned as transformational Christian leaders.

TLT costs $800 per student and hosts 100–150 participants annually. Graduates become eligible for university sponsorship through the Next Generation Leadership Program. Whether pursuing medicine, law, tailoring, or mechanics, each vocation is viewed as a God-given opportunity to serve others and make disciples—placing Christ-like leaders in every sector of society to renew Uganda and beyond.
